Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce

The Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce has now partnered with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce to provide a fast, easy and effective way to obtain Certificates of Origin. The Canadian Chamber of Commerce uses an online platform called TradeCert that allows clients to apply for Certificates of Origin from the comfort of their office.

TradeCert offers two options:

  1. Full Service; the CCC will print however many colored copies you need of the CO, packing list and invoice and affix their ink signature and stamp on the documents and courier it to you.
  2. DIY; once submitted, the CCC will approve the documents, including a digital signature and stamp. Clients will then receive an email that their documents have been approved and are ready to print. You can then login to your account and print however many colored copies you need from your computer.

As a member of the GNCC, you benefit from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s member rates.

Exporters that frequently have documents certified often find the notarization process costly and time consuming. An alternative to notarization of documents is through a letter of waiver obtained from the shipper (i.e., manufacturer or exporter) or her/his agent. The Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce allows companies that are frequent users of our service to place a letter of waiver on file stating that they take responsibility for the documents that they present to us.

Certificate of Origin

A Certificate of Origin (CO) is a document attesting that goods exported in a shipment have been wholly obtained, produced, manufactured or processed in a particular country. COs may be requested by customs administrations, importers, freight forwarders or banks for clearance of letters of credit. The issuance of a CO is an important function for chambers of commerce as many countries view chambers of commerce as credible organizations and require that they authenticate documents with their stamp or seal.
