Getting on the Wrong Side of the Law for a Good Cause
Community members got on the wrong side of the law for a good cause Wednesday. Niagara Regional Police and Big Brothers, Big Sisters of St. Catharines–Thorold and District teamed up for the fifth annual Jail and Bail event.
Community members nominated someone of their choosing who then was mock-arrested and brought to a makeshift jail in Market Square in downtown St. Catharines. The ‘jail bird’ then had to raise $300 in pledges to post bail and get out.

Business Coalition Urges Five-Year Implementation of Minimum Wage Hike
A new report from a business coalition says the Ontario government could cut the risk of job losses related to its plan to raise minimum wage by 74 per cent if it extended the policy phase-in period.
The Keep Ontario Working Coalition, which includes groups such as the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and the Retail Council of Canada, says that if the government implemented the change over a five-year-period, instead of the planned two years, it could decrease the risk of job loss.
