Applications Open for Leadership Development Seminars
Applications are now open for the local business community to take part in leadership development seminars held at Brock University’s Goodman School of Business.
The seminars, offered through Goodman’s Centre for Innovation, Management and Enterprise Education (CIMEE), are part of a certificate program that is open to the public.

Bill 148 Will Have Dramatic Unintended Consequences: CANCEA Analysis
On Monday, August 14, the Keep Ontario Working Coalition (KOW) released the first and only independent economic impact analysis of Bill 148, the Fair Workplaces Better Jobs Act. The report estimates 185,000 Ontario jobs may be at risk from Bill 148.
Conducted by the Canadian Centre for Economic Analysis(CANCEA), the study revealed that if the legislation is implemented as currently drafted, there will be significant, sudden and sizable uncertainty for Ontario jobs, economy and communities.
Infrastructure Spending — Real Bang for the Buck
One of our pet peeves at the Canadian Chamber is when governments talk about infrastructure investment purely in terms of how many billions they’re spending, often with few details about what the infrastructure is trying to achieve. We worry when the goals are unclear and dollar sums are massive.
Imagine someone saying, “I’d like to renovate my home and am unsure what needs to be done, but I’d like to spend at least $150,000.” (And, it’s all borrowed money.)
Infrastructure Report
On August 23, the OCC will be releasing a report, Building Better, that will provide key recommendations for the Province’s Long-Term Infrastructure Plan to enhance the economic return on the Ontario’s future infrastructure investments.
The report will discuss the ways in which the Plan can be designed to maximize the positive impact to businesses’ bottom line in Ontario.
