Mentally Healthy Workplaces: The Best Investment For Your Business
Every week, nearly 500,000 Canadians miss work due to mental health problems or illnesses, costing the economy in excess of $51-billion annually. In order to remain competitive, businesses need to focus inwards and begin investing in and improving how they navigate mental health in their workplace.
With most adults spending more of their waking hours at work and with one in five Canadians experiencing a mental health problem or illness, addressing the issue of mental health at work is vitally important for all people in Canada—especially employers. Mentally healthy workforces perform better and create opportunities that allow for inclusive growth for all sections of society.
Cyber Assault: It Should Keep You Up at Night
Cyber criminals from around the world have already preyed on millions of Canadians, leaching money and intimate, personal data that will live on the internet forever. Ultimately, education is the best way to keep safe. Being aware of the nature of common threats allows people and businesses to take steps to secure themselves.
In 2017 alone, over 10 million Canadians had their personal information compromised through targeted attacks and — more often — through cyber operations directed against businesses that hold Canadians’ private information. Banking information, internet activity, social insurance numbers, family photos — this wealth of intimate data is up for grabs by malevolent actors who can steal your life from the other side of the world.
10 Ways to Build a Canada that Wins
The Canadian Chamber of Commerce has prepared a report, 10 Ways to Build a Canada that Wins, that provides business, decision-makers and government with a series of clear priorities and objectives that, if addressed, will give Canada a competitive edge, improve productivity and grow the economy.
A strong and prosperous Canada depends on business growth, but businesses are grappling with daunting challenges—economic, political and technological—at home and abroad. The report helps guide businesses, government and other stakeholders towards new opportunities.
