In response to advocacy from the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce, Thorold City Council voted to support the initiative for pre-clearance at the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie. The GNCC strongly supports this initiative, which has previously been adopted by the Town of Fort Erie and the Niagara Regional Council. We have been working closely with Fort Erie Councillor Kimberly Zanko and Fort Erie Regional Councillor Sandy Annunziata, who originally proposed the motion for pre-clearance at the bridge. With the announcement of Niagara’s Foreign Trade Zone Point and the incredible volume of international trade across the bridge, eliminating delays at the border could save manufacturers over $1 million per hour.
