GNCC releases Ontario election platform

The Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce (GNCC) has released its election platform for the 2022 provincial election.

Each election year, in consultation with its members, community partners, and advisory councils, the GNCC develops a set of policy asks aimed at advancing its vision of our region at its economic and social best.

“This election is a very important one, coming at a turning point for our province,” said GNCC CEO Mishka Balsom. “We are recovering from two years of pandemic, but we have an opportunity to shape our future and to chart a course for that recovery.”

The platform contains many suggestions aimed at building business success, such as building a workforce more tuned to employer skill needs, ensuring public procurement is open to small Ontario businesses, and investing in infrastructure such as broadband internet.

It also takes aim at social issues like affordable housing, childcare, and healthcare. The pandemic has shown us that a healthy economy depends upon a healthy society, and tackling issues such as these will build a strong foundation for economic growth.

The GNCC hopes that candidates from all parties will find useful suggestions in the platform, and, as a non-partisan organization, is dedicated to working with all elected officials for prosperity in Niagara.

The platform can be read at gncc.ca/2022-ontario-election-platform.

The Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce is the voice of business in Niagara, the largest business organization in the region and the second-largest Chamber of Commerce in Ontario, with 1,500 members representing 50,000 employees. More information on the GNCC is available at gncc.ca.
