Vital updates:
- The Government of Canada has announced that from October 26, 2020, the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) will be available to businesses that have been operating out of a non-business banking account. To be eligible, businesses must have been operating as a business as of March 1, 2020, must successfully open a business account at a Canadian financial institution that is participating in CEBA, and meet the other existing CEBA eligibility criteria. The deadline to apply for CEBA is December 31, 2020.
- The Ontario government will release its 2020 Budget on Thursday, November 5, 2020. To increase transparency given the ongoing uncertainty in the global economy, the government’s Budget will include multiple economic scenarios for Ontario’s economy and finances.
- On November 2nd, the Canadian Business Resilience Network will host Hugh Moncrieff, Executive Vice-President, Advisory Network and Industry Affairs for Canada Life, to discuss how COVID-19 has changed the financial services landscape in Canada and how advisors have adapted to help ensure Canadians are financially prepared for the future. - During stressful times (i.e. right now), it’s good practice to write down the unstated cultural and emotional norms that exist within your team or company. They might have changed since you all started working from home, or perhaps they’ve never been explicit to everyone. You might know that it’s okay to take a walk in the middle of the day to clear your head, but it might not be as obvious to your colleagues, especially if they’re new hires.
