Tips from CAA on Safe Winter Driving
Alex Pedersen, public relations co-ordinator with CAA Niagara, said over the holidays during the cold snap that CAA received double the amount of calls than normal. Most calls were battery-related or towing requests for drivers who slid off the road.
CAA recommends that drivers allow for extra travel time during poor weather, keep up with regular vehicle maintenance and park in a garage if possible. Following distance should also be increased to eight to 10 seconds while driving in poor weather conditions to allow for more time to stop.

Identifying the Vital Professions for Canada’s Economy in 2018
While 2017 proved to be a good year for jobs in Canada, five professions in particular stood out. Economist Daniel Culbertson explained these jobs have seen “significant growth” when it comes to the number of job postings on employment websites.
“While it can be tricky to forecast” added Culbertson, “we do anticipate that these trends will continue to 2018, and as indicated by our list of jobs to watch, we think the bright spots in the labour market will be in health care and tech.”
