Community Care of St. Catharines & Thorold has been selected as the 21st recipient of Niagara College’s Many Hands project. The annual project sees Niagara College students support a local community non-profit organization with fundraising, marketing and public awareness of the agency.
In the Spring of 2018, students in NC’s Event Management (Graduate Certificate) program will plan, manage and host a fundraising event to help Community Care.
“Community Care St. Catharines & Thorold is extremely pleased to have been identified as the recipient of the Many Hands Project this year. It further solidifies the strong partnership the agency has with Niagara College,” said Community Care Executive Director Betty-Lou Souter. “We look forward to working with the College on this exciting venture. We are confident it will make a difference to the people served by the agency.”
Agencies that benefit from the Many Hands project, selected by the project committee, must be not-for-profit, provide community-based services in Niagara, and must be willing to commit agencies resources to the project.
“For 20 years, the Many Hands project has been an incredible demonstration of community engagement, and when combined with education, has provided students with the tools required for a successful career,” said Christine Blane, NC professor and Coordinator for the college’s Event Management program. “We are excited to partner with Community Care as they provide community support across Niagara.”

Community Care, St. Catharines & Thorold has been meeting the needs of the less advantaged in our community since 1919. The fundamental principles on which the agency was founded have not changed. Programs range from food and shelter security to emergency services and support that lead to the independence clients strive to achieve.
Event Management is a one-year Graduate Certificate program at Niagara College that prepares graduates for a career in a fast-paced and multi-faceted industry. Students develop skills in planning and logistics, public relations, marketing and sponsorship strategies, and volunteer and risk management in a highly experiential learning environment.
Niagara College offers more than 130 diploma, bachelor degree and advanced level programs; as well as more than 600 credit, vocational and general interest Part-Time Studies courses.
