EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare awarded contract for South Niagara Hospital
A contract has been awarded to a company that will build the new South Niagara Hospital.
EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare (EDIH) has been awarded a fixed-price contract of approximately $3.6 billion to design, build, finance and maintain the new South Niagara Hospital.
The contract reflects the payments made during construction, the substantial completion payment and the monthly service payments before inflation adjustments.
Crews will soon begin site work on the property, with construction planned to begin this summer.
The hospital will take five years to build, with occupancy planned for 2028.
Lincoln approves capital budget as deliberations continue
The Town of Lincoln has approved this year’s capital budget while the operating budget is still pending approval.
On Feb. 15, council gathered to talk about capital projects as part of a series of budget meetings.
The council members announced the capital budget includes 40 projects, with a total budget of $48 million.
During the meeting, Ward 2 Coun. Tony Brunet proposed removing a plan for multi-bin containers for all of the town’s facilities and some money for an education campaign for recycling and reuse.
However, Mayor Sandra Easton was not in agreement, expressing a desire for a pause in the matter, rather than removing it entirely.
Women still seriously underrepresented in senior management: study
The Prosperity Project has released its 2023 Annual Report Card, the third in a series launched in February 2021. The project studied 17,974 Canadian leaders who self-identified as women. Among its conclusions were:
- Women continue to represent about one-third of corporate director roles (34.8%) and just under one-third of executive officer roles (32.3%), which are similar results to the 2022 report (34.2% and 29.2%, respectively)
- Women’s representation in pipeline to senior management roles is the highest of the four leadership levels (42.9%), however, this number declined by 11.9 percentage points (from 54.8% in 2022)
- There is a serious underrepresentation of women with at least one intersecting identity (racialized, Indigenous, living with disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+) in senior leadership roles
- The financial services, utilities and retail industries are leading the way in respect of gender parity across the four leadership levels. Each has achieved gender parity at two of the four leadership levels.
