Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce welcomes Sevaun Palvetzian and CivicAction

On April 22nd, 2016, the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce (GNCC) will welcome Sevaun Palvetzian, CEO of CivicAction, to deliver the keynote address at the annual Chairs Luncheon to be held in St. Catharines.

“The issues that 21st century cities face simply cannot be addressed by one sector alone,” says Palvetzian. “City-regions that tap into the shared efforts of leaders from a cross section of sectors are quickly moving to the front of the pack. Collaboration is the new civic currency.”

CivicAction works to deliver results. While their work is supported by reports and analysis, their primary goal is to bring about change.

At the 2015 Niagara Economic Summit, there was one message that resonated clearly throughout all of the panels and talks: Niagara needs action. The assembled business and community leaders agreed that Niagara did not need more studies, reports, or focus groups. We need actual work and actual results.

CivicAction has been involved in many key initiatives and has had a track record of success for over a decade. Between 2011 and 2014 the organization’s Race to Reduce campaign saw 42% of GTA offices collectively reduce their energy consumption by 12.1% – the equivalent of taking over 4,200 cars off the road, and returning $13.7-million to the tenants and landlords of those offices.

Now Palvetzian is coming to Niagara. Her keynote address will show how their collaborative approach has delivered real, tangible results for the residents of the GTHA – and how that same approach can work here.

Niagara’s recent success with the GO train announcement has given us a taste what the region is capable of when it works together. But that could just be the beginning.

The keynote address will show just what we could attain in the future when Niagara flexes its collective muscle as one.

“Sevaun’s focus on collaboration, long-term smart thinking, and working to produce real results will be welcome to those working on building Niagara’s future. Her address will help set the tone for their future efforts and is a must-see for any influencers working in and for Niagara,” said Mishka Balsom, President & CEO of the GNCC.

The event will be held at the Stone Mill Ballroom in St Catharines on April 22nd. For tickets, contact the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce by phone at 905-684-2361 or email at events.admin@gncc.ca for tickets.
