Nolaa Granolaa was created by Melissa Woodworth, a  local Niagara resident. Nolaa Granolaa uses only local certified organic farmers to create their granola blends. They work with local suppliers to source the freshest and most authentic ingredients, and use old-fashioned techniques to ensure the highest quality. Their goal is to make your tastebuds happy! They make custom flavours but also have the usual favourites, including Peanut Butter Chocolate, University (cranberry protein), Coffee Blueberry and Maple Crunch (100% nut and seed free).

All of their blends are completely gluten-free, vegan, organic and no sugar added. They also have zero additives or preservatives and are fantastic enjoyed alone, or sprinkled on salads, yogurts, ice cream, or other snacks.

Nolaa Granolaa’s bakers start work before the sun rises each day to ensure that every batch is as fresh as possible before it gets to customers. The warm smell of blended maple syrup, honey and coconut often escapes onto the street, tantalizing customers before they’ve even opened.

Niagara Casinos Donates Over $215,000 to United Way Niagara

Niagara Casinos is excited to announce that this year’s annual workplace fundraising campaign resulted in a $215,246 cheque presentation to United Way Niagara at Fallsview Casino Resort.

The announcement represents one of the largest donations in the region with $108,946 raised through event fundraisers combined with $106,300 in corporate support.

“As a long-time contributor to the United Way, both financially and through volunteerism, Niagara Casinos helps to make it possible for us to invest in programs that improve the lives of families throughout our Niagara region,” said Frances Hallworth, executive director, United Way Niagara.

Niagara Casinos’ United Way Events Committee is comprised of 12 volunteer associates who work with various departments throughout the organization to plan and execute fundraising events for United Way Niagara. This year the events roster included: a chocolate bar campaign, indoor volleyball tournament, slo-pitch tournament, beach volleyball tournament, community car wash and barbeque, golf tournament, dart tournament, online auction and pledge card donations through the employee payroll deduction campaign.

“Our company values of; Provide Remarkable Service, Earn Trust & Loyalty, Work as One Team and Improve Our Communities, are entrenched in our organization,” said Richard Taylor, president, Niagara Casinos. “Through our community giving program, ncCommunity, we work with over 170 charities and non-profit organizations in the Niagara region while supporting our associates in paying it forward, getting involved and making a difference. The phenomenal success of our fundraising is a reflection of the dedication and enthusiasm of our associates.”

The year-long campaign kicks off each January with support provided by Niagara Casinos’ partners. From local restaurants and tourist attractions to food and beverage vendors and sports affiliates, the committee works with casino community partners for gift certificates and tickets to assist with silent auctions at each of the fundraising events.

Niagara Casinos’ employees have established a very proud legacy in supporting the United Way for over two decades. Associate volunteers of this year’s committee included Mallory Antonello (Chair), Ruth Choy, Tony Gagliardi, Scott Reid, Stacey Tayler, Shaun Campbell, Tina Tran, Predrag Kovac, Brianne Philbrick, James Tracey, Todd Gegieckas and Rosemary Girardo. Since their first campaign in 1997, Niagara Casinos’ has contributed nearly $6 million to the United Way.

Niagara Regional Council appoints new Regional Chair

​Today, Niagara Region announces that Jim Bradley has been appointed to the position of Regional Chair by a unanimous vote of Regional Council for the 2018-2022 term. Bradley will be officially sworn in later today, making him the eighth Regional Chair for the Niagara Region.

Bradley began his political career as a St. Catharines City Councillor from 1970-77. He served as the Member of Provincial Parliament for St. Catharines from 1977-2018. During this time, Bradley held roles as Provincial Minister of Environment, Transportation, Municipal Affairs and Housing, Tourism and Recreation, Community Safety and Correctional Services, and Seniors.

Bradley has contributed to the Niagara community as a hockey and baseball coach, manager and referee; as member of Grantham Optimist Club, as an active supporter of the Rankin Run, Gillian’s Place, Start Me Up Niagara, Community Care, Bethlehem Place and other volunteer organizations.

In Ontario, the Municipal Act sets out the responsibilities of the Regional Chair. The Regional Chair is both the head of council and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Region.
