Niagara Workforce Planning Board Hires New CEO

The Board of Directors of the Niagara Workforce Planning Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Vivian Kinnaird as Chief Executive Officer. Vivian joins them from Niagara College, where she was Dean of Business, Hospitality and Environment at the Niagara-on-the-Lake campus.

Over the past eight years, Vivian has had the opportunity to work with businesses and organizations across Niagara and has served on the boards of the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Niagara. She has extensive experience working collaboratively to ensure education and skills development supports the needs of employers. She is passionate about the changing nature of work and the need for communities to work together to ensure that the workforce is equipped to meet this change.

Vivian has spent more than 25 years working in post secondary education as a teacher, mentor, researcher and administrator. She has led both community and research-based projects and is dedicated to ensuring that evidence-based research is relevant, highlights areas of interest to the community and makes a valuable contribution to decision making.

Carol Nagy, Chair of the Niagara Workforce Planning Board, would like to thank Adam Durrant for acting as Interim CEO during this transition period. Adam will continue to provide NWPB with solid research and project oversight, and will continue as a senior member of the team.

Vivian sums up the focus and vision of the organization well: “The Niagara Workforce Planning Board has established a great reputation for delivering valuable, balanced research on the Niagara workforce and the needs of employers. I am excited to join the team, and look forward to being part of a group that is focused on serving Niagara and our many community partners.”
