Niagara Regional Police seek public input on 2026–2029 strategic plan
The Niagara Regional Police Service Board and the Niagara Regional Police Service are seeking the public’s input and consultation as they develop the 2026-2029 strategic plan.
A strategic plan acts as a foundational framework that defines the Niagara Regional Police Service’s priorities, objectives, and planned initiatives over a specific timeframe. Shaped through input from community members, and service personnel, the plan is designed to align with the changing expectations and needs of the communities they serve.

March retail sales rise 0.8 per cent; seen up 0.5 per cent in April
Canadian retail sales grew by 0.8 per cent in March from February, more than analysts had forecast, and looked set to have increased by 0.5 per cent in April, Statistics Canada data indicated on Friday.
The largest increase was the 4.8 per cent gain posted by motor vehicle and parts dealers, the first rise in three months. Analysts suggested one reason was consumers rushing to buy cars before U.S. tariffs took effect in April.

Ongoing strike threat could push more customers away from a struggling Canada Post
Canada Post customers may face delays as 55,000 workers swear off overtime shifts, though a much bigger disruption was averted after the union backed down from a strike threat.
However, experts say the possibility of escalating job action may continue to scare off customers who pulled their shipments over the past couple of weeks, draining more business from the cash-strapped organization.
Late Thursday, the union called for a countrywide halt to any work beyond eight hours a day and 40 hours a week, saying negotiators will continue to review Canada Post’s latest contract offers.
