Canadian cafés — including in Ontario — ditch Americanos in favour of ‘Canadianos’
Kicking Horse Coffee and Café in British Columbia has called the Americano a “Canadiano” since its inception in 2008. Now it’s rallying the rest of the country to turn its “quiet rebellion” into a nationwide name change for the popular drink.
Americanos are made by diluting espresso with hot water — and are a favourite beverage for those who like a smooth, strong coffee.
Kicking Horse Coffee has called on Canadian coffee shops to showcase national pride by swapping Americanos for Canadianos.
