The Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce encourages its members to serve as members of the Board of Directors for various non-profit organizations within the Niagara Region. Share your business experience, expertise and skills and contribute in new ways to the community. We also encourage our members to join councils and to share their expertise with the Niagara community.

Community Crew
Community Crew is dedicated to providing healthy lunches and hope to children in need. We believe that every children should have access to healthy foods, especially during the school year. Our Board of Directors is seeking individuals with knowledge and experience in one of more of the following: Governance, Accounting/Finance/Business, Public Affairs/Communications, Strategic Planning & Government Relations. Board of Directors Recruitment Notice

The mission of Women’s Place is to stop abuse and violence against women and children by providing safety through the provision of shelter, counselling, education, advocacy and community partnerships.

Women’s Place is currently seeking candidates to fill vacancies on their board of directors. Individuals wishing to volunteer their time to advocate for and make a meaningful contribution to the quality of life for women and children escaping domestic violence are invited to submit their application online at http://womensplacesn.org/volunteer-with-womens-place/join-our-board-of-directors/

Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for the effective governance and strategic leadership of Women’s Place
    • Influence the strategic plan for Women’s Place
    • Attend monthly board meetings and the Annual General Meeting
    • Participate as a member of at least one board committee (often requiring attendance at monthly meetings)
    • Represent the agency in the communities Women’s Place serves
    • Commit time as required to fulfill the responsibilities of a board member

We encourage candidates with:

    • Experience with not-for-profit organizations
    • Strong networking and communication skills
    • Competency in one or more of the following areas: Organizational Management, Finance, Legal Services, Human Resources, Fundraising, Marketing/Public Relations, Government Relations or Advocacy.

Board members hold office for a term of two years with renewal options for two subsequent two-year terms (six years in total). Board meetings typically take place at 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month at our Niagara Falls shelter, Nova House. YMCA of Niagara
