Fight4Phil

A family friendly event with all proceeds donated to Phil Secord’s fight. Please join us for a BBQ, jump & bounces, face painting, lemonade stand and much more!

On July 23rd 2016 we are gathering our community at Lester B. Pearson Park for a family day event. This event is a big step in saving a young father’s life…

In September 2015, Phil Secord was diagnosed with a rare form of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, just 6 months after celebrating the news that he was expecting his first baby. He was told he required a stem cell transplant to help his odds in beating the disease.

On March 17th 2016, Phil received his lifesaving transplant but only 77 days post-transplant, he and his family were given the devastating news that the Leukemia had come back and was spreading at an aggressive rate.

Having exhausted all options available in Canada, they have been informed of a revolutionary new treatment that has shown extraordinary rates of success for people in Phil’s position. The treatment is CAR T-Cell Therapy and researchers at the Fred Hutch Seattle Cancer Care Alliance in Seattle, Washington believe Phil is a suitable candidate. The treatment is funded by the University, although the medical costs associated with its administration must be self-funded. Phil needs $630,000 CAD to save his life.

The heartbreak of this story has caught many people’s hearts and has lead to extensive media attention which includes CHCH & Toronto CTV News. Individually we cannot offer much help but we can all come together and make an outstanding impact in Phil’s fight. This family friendly event will consist of a BBQ, jump & bounces, face painting, lemonade stand and much more!
