This year, we are seeing a significant increase in demand for our services across the Niagara Region. Rising food costs, inflation, and a growing number of older adults on fixed incomes have made it increasingly difficult for many residents to access healthy, nutritious food.

Growing need: Across Ontario, over 3.3 million meals are delivered annually by Meals on Wheels agencies, serving more than 61,000 individuals, with 86% of recipients aged 65 and older. This demand continues to grow as food costs rise and more seniors age in place.

For many of our clients, the challenge goes beyond simply affording food. Limited mobility, chronic health conditions, and other physical barriers can make shopping, preparing, and cooking meals overwhelming or impossible. When you add in recent cold and snowy winters — which make getting out even harder — the struggle to eat well becomes even more acute.

How you can help: This March for Meals, we invite the community to stand with us in supporting Niagara’s seniors and adults with disabilities. A donation to Meals on Wheels is more than a meal, it is nutrition, safety, independence, and human connection.
