Applications are now open for the final round of St. Catharines Cultural Investment Program (SCCIP) funding for 2024.
The deadline for Arts Development, Culture Builds Community, and Sustaining Festival Programs applications is Sept. 19 (for projects starting Jan. 2025 or later).
SCCIP offers six program streams tailored to specific priorities, eligibility criteria, and evaluation standards.
Feds issue Niagara Region written warning for wastewater violations at Niagara Falls plant
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change enforcement branch issued a written warning to Niagara Region for 48 breaches of wastewater effluent regulations at its Niagara Falls Wastewater Treatment Plant since 2021.
The most serious warning is from March 11, when the region’s effluent testing revealed an “acute toxicity with 60 per cent mortality” for fish.
New Forks Road bridge opens, reconnecting Dain City with Welland
The City of Welland is pleased to announce the opening of the new Forks Road bridge. This milestone reconnects the Dain City community with the rest of Welland, completing a significant project that enhances transportation and supports economic growth.
The new Forks Road bridge will be open to the public on Friday, August 16; it was constructed to replace the original structure that was closed in 2019 due to safety concerns.
Niagara Parks invests in resurfacing improvements along South Niagara Parkway
As part of its capital improvements program, Niagara Parks is continuing its investment in infrastructure along the South Niagara Parkway, with resurfacing work set to begin on August 19, 2024. The project is expected to be completed by September 30, 2024.
Resurfacing will be done on five kilometres of the South Niagara Parkway, from just south of Cairns Crescent to just north of the Bowen Street intersection, and approximately one kilometre of the Parkway from north of Wintemute Street to the junction on the south side of Catherine Street.
